Les sentiments

The atmosphere is tranquil: Jacques (Jean-Pierre Bacri) is a doctor who live with his wife (Nathalie Baye) and their two children in a house on the outskirts of Paris. Before retiring, he hands over his practice to his young replacement François (Melvil Poupaud), who also moves into the house next door with his wife Edith (Isabelle Carré). A friendly relationship begins to flourish - until Jacques falls in love with Edith. The familiar constellation of impossible love is bathed in an intense color palette that recalls Resnais and Demy, and supplied with plenty of music – for example, by a chorus that frequently comments on feelings and events in song. With its star-studded cast, the witty melodrama proved to be a great success with audiences. (bik)
